FUTO final year student builds solar-powered tricycle
Finbarr, a student of the department of electrical and electronic engineering, built the tricycle as part of his final year project.
Aniekeme Finbarr Ukpong, his brother, announced the successful completion and defense of the project.
The solar-powered tricycle can travel for 11 kilometres, said Ukpnong, on his Facebook page.
After being tested, Damian Dike, head of the department, and Dr. Mrs. Achumba, a lecturer, were said to have expressed amazement at the project.
According to Finbarr’s brother, the lecturers commended him on a job well done.
“I am very proud of my younger brother, Ekomobong Finbarr. Over the past few weeks, he has painstakingly produced and defended this solar powered tricycle (Keke) as his first degree project in partial fulfillment for the award of a degree in Electrical Engineering, Federal University of Technology, (FUTO), Owerri.
“No engine, just battery and the solar system and can go 11km without blinking”, he added.
